Janet Heller Speaks at the Convention of the Midwest Modern Language Association in Dearborn MI on November 13-14, 2014

Thursday November 13 and Friday November 14, 2014—Janet Heller will be speaking at the convention of the Midwest Modern Language Association at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Detroit-Dearborn. The conference theme is "The Lives of Cities."  Janet will read her autobiographical essay “Growing Up on the Other Side of Lake Michigan,” which combines poetry and prose, on November 13 from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m.  She will also discuss “Capturing Adolescence in Detroit:  The Poems of Jim Daniels” from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, November 14.

Janet is on a Festival of Language panel at the 2014 Midwest Modern Language Association’s conference

The Festival of Language at the 2014 Midwest Modern Language Association's annual conference in Detroit Conference Theme:  "The Lives of Cities" Remixing the City: Remixing Language--Panel will be held on Thursday, November 13 at 2:15 p.m. and will include Jane L. Carman--"The Object((i)fic(a)tion of the City Through Dust-Colored Glasses" Janet Ruth Heller--"Growing Up on the Other Side of Lake Michigan" Joshua M. Murray--"'For a Moment I wondered': Transnational Sites of Memory in the Life Writing of Langston Hughes" William Yarrow--"The Formalization of the Found Object" Also, please Join Us as a Participant! There will also be a reading eXperiment held at 4:00 p.m. made up of 100% audience participation. Bring your writing and your friends--it's sure to be a great time! Location TBA, but both sessions will be in the same room and will last 90 minutes each.
