Janet Ruth Heller will join other Michigan authors and illustrators of books for children at the Funky Ferndale Art Fair on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Troy Street at Booth 318. This is west of Woodward in Ferndale, Michigan. Admission is free. The fair continues on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24, 2023. Janet will sign copies of her award-winning picture book story about bullying How the Moon Regained Her Shape (Arbordale, 2006; 7th edition 2022) and her middle-grade chapter book about sibling rivalry The Passover Surprise (Fictive Press, 2015 and 2016). My tanka poem “Cottonwood Seeds” recently appeared in Ribbons 19.2 (Spring/Summer 2023) on page 42. The Tanka Society of America publishes Ribbons, and the editor is Susan Weaver. Tanka resemble haiku, but tanka are five lines long, so this format gives writers more space to develop ideas.
