Janet Ruth Heller and 7 Other Michigan Authors for Children Will Autograph at the Sterlingfest Book Sale on Saturday, July 28, 2018

On Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Janet Ruth Heller and seven other Michigan authors and illustrators will be autographing their children’s books at the Sterlingfest Book Sale as part of the Sterlingfest Art and Music Fair.  The event is on the City of Sterling Heights campus, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313.  Book tables will line the covered walkway between the police department and the Sterling Heights Public Library.  The other writers there will be Lisa Rose, Josef Bastian, Kelly DiPucchio, Jeff Jantz, Amy Nielander, Wendy BooydeGraaff, and Jodi McKay.  All of these authors are members of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.  Janet Ruth Heller will be autographing The Passover Surprise (Fictive Press, 2015, 2016), a middle-grade chapter book about sibling rivalry, and her award-winning fiction picture book about bullying How the Moon Regained Her Shape (Arbordale, 2006; 4th edition 2014).  Please join us!  For more information, please see the Sterlingfest Book Sale website https://www.sterling-heights.net/1493/Local-Author-Book-Sale

 

Janet Ruth Heller

I am the past president of the Michigan College English Association. I have a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago. I have published four poetry books: Nature's Olympics (Wipf and Stock, 2021), Exodus (WordTech Communications, 2014), Folk Concert: Changing Times (Anaphora Literary Press, 2012) and Traffic Stop (Finishing Line Press, 2011). My scholarly book, Coleridge, Lamb, Hazlitt, and the Reader of Drama, was published in 1990 by the University of Missouri Press. My fiction picture book about bullying for children, How the Moon Regained Her Shape (Arbordale, 2006; 7th edn. 2022), has won four national awards. My play The Cell Phone won fourth place in a national contest and was performed twice at the Fenton Village Players One-Act Play Festival on June 24-25, 2011 in Fenton, Michigan. Triton College produced another play, Pledging, as part of its Tritonysia Play Festival in May 2017. Choeofpleirn Press published Pledging in Rushing Through the Dark (2022).
