Treats for the Soul: Poetry, Prose, and Pastries, A Celebration of Five Women Writers on Sat. August 18 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Paw Paw

Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.—Five Southwest Michigan women writers will read from and autograph their published books of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry at All Stirred Up! at 404 E. Michigan Avenue in Paw Paw, Michigan 49079.  The authors include Judith A. Rypma, Andrea England, Wilma Kahn, Janet Ruth Heller, and Miriam Bat-Ami.  This reading is free and open to the public.  Families are welcome. Both children's and adult books will be on sale. The five writers will explore the world of nature in its many guises. Biographies that Change People’s Outlook on Life

When I was a teenager, I read the book Teenagers Who Made History, written by Russell Freedman and illustrated by Arthur Shilstone (New York: Holiday House, 1961). It has biographies of various young people who achieved something important as teenagers, including the poet Edna St. Vincent Millay, who won fourth place for her poem "Renascence" in a poetry contest and publication in The Lyric Year in 1912. Many readers praised this poem, and Millay received a scholarship to Vassar College. I wanted to be a writer, and this book encouraged me to pursue my dream.
