Nine Tips for a Successful Book Signing Event

My essay “Nine Tips for a Successful Book Signing Event” got posted on September 16, 2017 in the Michigan chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators newsletter called The Mitten. The editor is Kristin Bartley Lenz. I recommend ways to benefit from doing a book signing at a school, library, conference, bookstore, etc.

Here is the first paragraph of my essay.

I have been doing signings since 2006 when my first book for children was published. Such events benefit from advanced planning; working closely with the people who staff the library, school, bookstore, conference, or fair; practicing how to read your book creatively; having a craft or activity to engage children; cooperating with other authors or illustrators at the event; proudly hawking your merchandise; bringing promotional materials; making a display attractive; and personalizing your autograph for customers.

The information you provide is helpful. I might strongly consider doing events to promote my books.
